Take Your Athletic Performance To New Heights

The landscape of youth athletics has never been more competitive. The stakes have never been higher.

As much as we'd like to ignore it, NIL has turned school and college athletics into a business. The benefits of that system are reaped only by the highest performing, most prepared athletes.

Not only this, but a missed scholarship through sub-par performance or injury might make a six figure difference to a young athlete's family.

But what about the things that money can't buy? The frustration and disappointment young athletes feel when they see their peers pass them by? When they sit on the bench or on the sidelines? When they look back as an adult on their golden years of sport and regret that they didn't get every last drop of performance out of themselves, that they left some stones unturned.

For all these reasons and more, that's why we do what we do at TTS. If you're a young athlete who wants to get healthy, stay healthy and perform at their absolute maximum on the field and on the court, you'll find a home at TTS.

 Hey, I'm Marc Tangeman

I am the owner of TTS Training and Performance. Located in Omaha, NE we specialize in training youth, high school, and college athletes to create game changing speed, power and strength.

Over the last decade, I have worked with over 500 athletes, from 10-year professionals to youth teams and organizations.

I understand the importance of a structure for success that prioritizes the needs of each athlete and delivers the results required to open opportunities to the next level.

My credentials include:

  • Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with distinction (NSCA-CSCS,*D)
  • 1 of less than 700 Registered Strength and Conditioning Coaches (NSCA-RSCC)
  • Master's in Kinesiology
  • 10 publications in national and international peer-review journals
  • 5 years of experience as a collegiate strength coach

Let me tell you a little about how TTS came into being.

 Humble Beginnings

As a young athlete, I was driven to outperform my competition, determined to gain an edge on the court and on the field.

But despite my efforts, I felt like something was missing. So I signed up a local private training facility try to maximize my physical performance, and with it, opportunities to further my athletic career.

   Transition of Life

Training in a private facility had a huge impact on my performance. I made improvements I didn't think were possible at the time. But ultimately, professional athletics was not in my future, and my athletic career came to a close at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln, where I was pursuing a degree in Nutrition, Exercise, and Health Science.

By now, a passion for training had taken root with me. So I decided to put my degree to good use, and channel this passion into becoming a coach, and helping other athletes to maximize their performance like I had done in my own career.

A Bold New Path Forward

Early in my coaching career, I took the standard path of gaining experience by internships and placements. They were eye opening experiences for me and I learned a ton.

But at the same time, I was also exposed to some glaring and common failings of private sector performance training: athletes being herded around in massive groups, generic workouts, and individual needs being ignored.

Many workouts were chaotic, unstructured, and lacked clear progression. At best these workouts were sub-par. At worst they might even be exposing athletes to unnecessary risk of injury.

I made myself the promise that if I was going to commit to this path that I would not repeat these same mistakes. We would do it the right way, treat athletes and families with respect and honesty with what we do to help them. We would be bold and decisive in how we training and daring in what we deliver.

Leap of Faith, TTS was Born

As I developed into my coaching career I began to develop my own training philosophy, drawing upon my experiences as an athlete, coach and academic. It centered on the following key principles:

Individualized Programming: No cookie-cutter routines or massive groups. Each athlete receives a personalized plan tailored to their specific needs and goals.

Purposeful Training: We prioritize deliberate, purposeful work that optimizes performance while keeping athletes fresh and healthy.

Performance-Driven Approach: We reverse engineer the demands of the sport and position to ensure that training translates directly to on-field or on-court success.

Eventually, in the winter of 2021, I decided to put my money where my mouth was. I was going to open my own facility and coach athletes my way. TTS was born.

We opened our doors with the promise that we would never deviate from 3 key principles:

1) No cookie cutters or massive groups. We program and coach individually for all athletes in a small group setting to provide high quality coaching and feedback, address their weaknesses, enhance their strengths while preserving maximum quality.

2) We never work for work’s sake. We do deliberate, purposeful work around the athletes needs and abilities to keep our athletes fresh and healthy.

3) We don’t chase gym numbers. We reverse engineer the demands of the sport and position to improve performance where it matters- on the court, on the field.

 Just the Beginning...

Fast forward three years, and the results speak for themselves. We've trained over 500 athletes, from junior high to 10-year pros, helping them achieve remarkable improvements in speed, power, strength, and conditioning.

Our athletes have seen an average increase of 3 inches in vertical jump, a decrease of 2 tenths of a second in their 10-yard dash time, and gains of 30-40lbs on their main lifts.

With over 50 athletes advancing to the D1 level, our system has proven its effectiveness in boosting athletic performance and accelerating growth.

At TTS, every athlete undergoes rigorous initial testing and needs analysis to create their individualized performance plan. Our unique Omni-Contraction System develops explosive speed, power, and strength while building muscle and game-long conditioning.

Join TTS and surround yourself with highly successful athletes committed to excellence. Experience the transformative power of personalized coaching and unlock your true athletic potential.
If you're wondering what makes us different at TTS, keep reading because I want to tell you about the three pillars our program is built upon:
It's no exaggeration to say that I've personally invested years of my life, tens of thousands of work hours, and tens- if not- hundreds of thousands of dollars into becoming a better coach, to produce better results, and to support and serve our athletes at the highest level possible.

Call me biased, but I truly we believe we do it better and more consistently than our competitors at the conveyor belt, one size fits all athletic facilities. And there are three major reasons why:

1. We NEVER train for the sake of training

In the world of sports training, everyone (you and me included) is brought up to believe in the power of more: more weight, more reps, more sets = more progress and better performance. Man, was I was wrong!

I accidentally discovered the power of less when starting out as a coach. Faced with less time and equipment than I might have liked, we were forced to keep cutting exercises and session duration. I watched that first month through my fingers, because I was SURE the athletes were going to get worse.

But the results were undeniable. My athletes were faster, stronger, and less prone to injury with less training time. Stumbling upon this approach opened my eyes to coaches like Charles Poliquin, Derek Hansen, Ben Prentiss, and Fred Hatfield.

They taught me the value of intelligently dosed, explosive power and speed over the slow, grinding strength that typifies so much of North American training.

The rewards for myself and my athletes using this approach have been substantial. They experienced unprecedented gains in power, speed, and overall performance. They were healthier and happier, with more time to focus on their sport.

While it was initially uncomfortable to go against the grain of what I was taught coming up and what our first athletes at TTS might have been expecting, this less traditional approach is at the heart of everything we do at TTS today, and the results speak for themselves.

2. Performance first mindset

Another thing I was raised on, and that permeates so much of athletic training is the allure of massive weights and bulging muscles.

The idea that bigger muscles translates directly into greater strength and improved performance is pervasive. And I carried this bias into my early coaching years.

But I soon discovered the limitations of this approach.  The relentless pursuit of size and strength can lead to a buildup of fatigue that actually HURTS performance, leading to a slower, weaker, and less explosive athlete- the very antithesis of what we train for.

Thankfully, a turning point came when I encountered Mladen Jovanovic's Agile Periodization. This revolutionary approach opened my eyes to the importance of prioritizing speed, power, and agility over sheer size and strength.

Through education, experience and working with hundreds of athletes, I learned that these qualities were the true drivers of athletic performance, not mere byproducts of endless strength training.

Embracing this new philosophy, I shifted my focus away from fatigue-inducing strength training and towards developing sport-specific skills. My athletes began to thrive, demonstrating remarkable improvements in speed, power, and agility.

While strength and size have their place, they are merely tools in service of a greater goal at TTS: performance. Our athletes performances are measured in miles per hour and inches NOT pounds!

3. Work smarter, not harder

As an athlete I was always taught the value of adding weight to the bar. Leave the gym a little bit better than when you arrived. Always be pushing- it's a winner's mindset.

Once I started coaching though, I began to realize that performance- like all things- is in a constant state of flux. Sometimes you're fresh and relaxed, sometimes you're sick or stressed. Sometimes practice and games are kicking you into the dirt, sometimes not.

I realized that pushing hard regardless of what is going on outside of the gym is a recipe for excessive fatigue, prolonged recovery times, and diminished performance.

It wasn't until I discovered coaches like Christian Thibaudeau and Mladen Jovanovic, and built my own confidence as a coach that I began to pull back some days when my athletes weren't feeling so great.

Don't worry though, on days when they WERE feeling good, we got after it even harder! And this more nuanced, "strike when the iron is hot"  training philosophy has been a game changer for us at TTS.

Instead of rigidly adhering to pre-determined programs or blindly following the latest trends, we assess our athletes' each and every session, listen to their feedback and adjust their training accordingly.

This approach has allowed us to minimize fatigue, optimize recovery, and maximize performance gains. Work smarter, not harder!

 Experience TTS

At TTS, we provide a unique, comprehensive experience that goes beyond traditional athlete training programs. We're dedicated to helping young athletes reach their full potential—not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well.

Your journey begins with an individual tour of our state-of-the-art facility.  We'll walk you through a typical training session, explaining our step-by-step process and methodology.  This is followed by a personal conversation with our coaches to discuss your goals, our expectations, and how TTS can help you achieve your aspirations.

If and when you've decided that TTS is the right fit, we'll provide you with an easy-to-follow questionnaire, agreement, and handbook. These documents outline the key components of our program and how we structure success for TTS athletes, including:

  • Mentality and Goal Setting
  • Training Methods
  • Sleep and Recovery
  • Sports Nutrition

On your first day, to ensure you receive the most effective training, we'll conduct an initial evaluation to establish your baseline capabilities and training needs. This 45-minute evaluation assesses elements of speed, agility, strength, power, range of motion, and nutrition.  Using this data, we'll create a personalized plan designed to maximize athletic success in both the short and long term.

As a TTS athlete, you'll train in a semi-private setting, which provides a focused and supportive environment. Our community and culture are built on a strong desire for success and intrinsic motivation.

Backed by our team of professional coaches, your athlete will receive:

  • Constructive, hands-on corrections
  • Essential feedback to guide their progress
  • Continuous Improvement

We believe in constant adaptation and progress. Our programming adjusts based on weekly testing in targeted areas, allowing us to make necessary corrections and ensure continuous improvement. More comprehensive testing on a monthly or bi-monthly basis provides a constant feedback loop, ensuring your athlete's goals and needs are consistently met.

TTS is invested in your long-term athletic development.  Our system grows and adapts as your body and training career matures and progresses. The best program is always the next one, and we're committed to providing the know-how and support to help your athlete achieve excellence.  With TTS, work becomes a habit built on results, paving the way for a path to excellence.
